Watson, Hatch named to Region XIV all-conference team

Amanda L. Booren - 3/13/2009 Sophomore Darshell Hatch was one of two San Jacinto College women’s basketball players named to the Region XIV all-conference team.

HOUSTON – San Jacinto College sophomores Jasmyne Watson and Darshell Hatch have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIV women’s basketball all-conference honorable mention team.

Watson, a 5-6 guard from Houston (Clear Brook High School) was ranked in five of the eight statistical categories in the league. She averaged 11.1 points per game, ranking in the top 20 in Region XIV. She was second in three point field goals with a 43 percent average and was eighth in field goal percentage. In addition, she was also ranked in free throw percentage (12th) and assists (18th). She played in all 30 games for San Jacinto College after transferring in from Missouri State.

Hatch, a 5-8 guard from Alvin (Alvin High School), also appeared in all 30 games for San Jac. She averaged 7.7 points per game and was second on the squad with 22 steals. Her 74 percent free throw shooting was third on the team. Hatch was a two-year player for San Jacinto College.

San Jacinto College finished the season 5-25 overall, 3-15 in conference play under first-year head coach Eric Taylor.
